Adrienne DeFabritis Crelin

Adrienne DeFabritis Crelin, 56, of Brick passed away on Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, at home with her family by her side. Her strong will to live and love of family, friends, and her new granddaughter, Lucy carried her through 4 years of battling brain cancer. According to her doctors, she lived longer than anyone else with this disease.

Adrienne was born on April 8, 1959 in Newark to Helen & Joseph DeFabritis. She lived there until 1964 when she moved to Neptune. She graduated Neptune HS in 1977 and was the captain of the dolphins cheerleading squad. After high school, she went to work for Neptune Township working in vital statistics. From there, she worked for the government at Fort Monmouth. She worked there for 34 years starting as a GS-2 and working her way up to a GS-14 as Chief of the Security Division for the SEC (CECOM Software Engineering Center). She received an exceptional performance award and numerous other awards throughout her employment. In 2011, she was the recipient of the Commanders Award for Civilian Service, one of her greatest accomplishments. Her expertise and duty was unwavering and was called upon by all of her coworkers.

She is predeceased by her father, Joseph DeFabritis; her grandparents, Vincent & Mary DeFabritis, and George & Florence Valandasis, plus many aunts, uncles and cousins too long to list. She is survived by her husband, Michael G. Crelin Sr.; her son, Michael Jr., and his wife Jaclyn; her daughter, Lauren; her mother, Helen DeFabritis and her brother, Vincent. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins and most importantly her granddaughter, Lucy Marie Crelin.

A gathering will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sat., Sept. 19 at Ely Funeral Home, Route 33, Neptune. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the David Zochi Brain Tumor Foundation at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, NJ. Condolences may also be offered online at https://www.elyfuneralhome.com.
